  • Behavioral Interventions — Request for Assistance

Staff members who would like to request behavioral support for a student at Washington Middle School can use the link below to complete a Request for Assistance form.

This process is part of our PBIS framework, and all submitted forms will be reviewed by our Tier 2 Committee to determine appropriate interventions and supports.

Thank you for your continued support in helping all students succeed

  • Targeted Interventions (Tier 2 Supports)

At Washington Middle School, Tier 2 interventions provide additional support for students who may need more than universal (Tier 1) strategies to be successful. Below are two targeted intervention programs available for our students:

  • Check-In / Check-Out (CICO)

Check-In / Check-Out is a Tier 2 intervention designed for students who benefit from increased positive adult attention and structured behavioral feedback throughout the school day. This program is especially effective for students who demonstrate frequent minor behavioral challenges across multiple settings.

The goal is to create a positive, supportive experience that helps students improve behavior and build connections with adults.

    Key Features:

  • Increased daily positive adult contact

  • Embedded social skills coaching

  • Alignment with school-wide behavior expectations: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful

  • Frequent, structured feedback throughout the day

  • Daily home-school communication

  • Positive reinforcement for meeting behavioral goals

Bronco Connection / Check & Connect

Bronco Connection is a Tier 2 intervention focused on providing mentorship and social-emotional support to help students thrive both academically and personally. Each participating student is paired with a mentor—a trusted adult on campus—who meets with them regularly.

Purpose and Focus:

  • Build strong, supportive student-teacher relationships

  • Promote academic success through weekly check-ins

  • Encourage attendance, class participation, and problem-solving skills

  • Discuss academic progress and social-emotional well-being

Students meet with their mentor once a week to set goals, monitor progress, and talk through challenges.
